Local Anesthesia for Dental Professionals - Troubleshooting Basics and Beyond

This course will highlight troubleshooting strategies for common uses of local anesthesia. In addition it will explore alternatives and new technologies for success as introduced in the new text, Local Anesthesia for Dental Professionals by Kathy Bassett RDH, Art DiMarco, DMD, and Doreen Naughton RDH. The authors are all Washington State dental professionals.

  • Successful IA nerve blocks - What works and what's new?
  • Demystifying the hematoma - Why this time?
  • Lingual paresthesia - What really IS the cause?
  • The AMSA block - What IS it and why use it?

Doreen Naughton, RDH, BSDH has twenty-nine years of clinical practice. She has been the sole proprietor of Dental Hygiene Health Services for twenty - one years. She has been an affiliate faculty at the University of Washington, Dental Public Health, Degree Completion Program for Dental Hygienists since 1992, and was administrator and instructor for the University of Washington's Continuing Dental Education, dental hygiene pre-license examination courses in local anesthesia for six years.

She has presented many continuing education programs on many topics, including didactic and clinical courses in local anesthesia for dental professionals and educators.

She is a past President of WSDHA, and ADHA District XII Trustee. She received the WSDHA - Martha Fales Award in 1994, the ADHA - Excellence in Dental Hygiene Award in 2000 and was named A Mentor of the Year runner-up by RDH Magazine in 2004.
