Your Mouth, Your Body, Your Health: Redefining the World of Oral Medicine

The role of dental professionals in total health is more important than ever. Understanding salivary diagnostics and molecular testing in the diagnosis, treatment and maintenance of periodontal infections and HPV, is the "new standard of care" in soft tissue management and in preventing oral cancer.

Clinical lab tests are essential tools and used routinely in medical models to provide important diagnostic information to health care providers. Now, clinical laboratory testing is available for dental professionals.

This course is designed to educate you on the importance of implementing certified clinical laboratory testing for Oral Medicine. It is a vitally important step towards a new standard of care for the health of your patients

Educational Objectives:

  • Understanding the role of HPV and oral cancer
  • Identify SRP-Resistant Micro-organisms and their complexes
  • Understand clinical laboratory importance in the dental community
  • Discovering etiology through pathology
  • Incorporate dental codes for molecular testing on periodontal pathogens into treatment plan

Presenter - Chrystal Mauch RDH, Clinical Specialist

Chrystal Mauch has been a RDH and periodontal therapist working in a variety of settings for 8 years, including Periodontics and Prosthodontics. Her emphasis has always been focused on preventative care with incorporation of non-surgical perio therapies, risk assessment and diagnostic testing.

She received her AAS degree in Dental Hygiene from the Allegeny College of Maryland and has held her license under the NERB and WREB. She is currently employed by Oral DNA Labs as a Clinical Specialist.
